A 52-year-old Allentown man died Tuesday, two weeks after he was hit by a vehicle while riding a scooter.
Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio said the man was riding a scooter about 5:30 p.m. July 4 near North Eighth Street, just north of West Chew Street, when he was hit by a vehicle. The man was thrown from the scooter and landed in the road.
He was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, where he died Tuesday night. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
Buglio said the man has been tentatively identified, but his office is still trying to find his next of kin, and will not be releasing his identity until they have been found.
Allentown police Capt. Alicia Conjour said Wednesday that the investigation is still active, and she could not release additional information. City police and the Lehigh County district attorney’s office are investigating.
